
Sierra Romero will Headline Softball's 2017 Bullpen Club Dinner

2016 Softball Player of the Year and four-time All-American Sierra Romero will be the keynote speaker on Jan. 21, 2017
Four-time All-American and 2016 USA Softball and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Collegiate Player of the Year Sierra Romero will be the keynote speaker at the 2017 Louisville Softball Bullpen Club Dinner. The annual event will be held on January 21 at the Galt House. The evening will start with a 6 p.m. reception and the dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

"We've been fortunate to have the some of the best players in our game speak at our Bullpen Club Dinner and we are honored that Sierra Romero will be joining us this year," said UofL head coach Sandy Pearsall. "She had an outstanding collegiate career and has now moved into the professional ranks. We look forward to hearing about her journey to become the top player in the nation."

About Sierra Romero
One of softball's most accomplished players on the collegiate level, Romero was also the second overall pick in the National Professional Fastpitch (NPF) College Draft when she was selected by the USSSA Pride and went on to help that team to the 2016 NPF Championship game.Â

The infielder was a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American at Michigan where she helped lead the Wolverines to three Women's College World Series appearances and a runner-up finish in 2015. Romero's name is etched in the record books as the first player in NCAA softball history to record 300 runs, 300 hits and 300 RBIs in her career and owns the NCAA record for career runs (302) and grand slams (11).

Romero capped her collegiate career by sweeping the major softball awards, being named the 2016 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, Schutt Sports NFCA Division I Player of the year and the Honda Award Winner for Softball. During her senior campaign, she registered a .465 batting average, a .916 slugging percentage and a .585 on-base percentage.

While at Michigan, she was a three-time Big Ten Player of the Year (2013, '14 and '16) and four-time all-conference selection. Additionally, she was the 2015 espnW Softball Player of the Year.

The Murrieta, Calif., native joined the USA Junior Women's National Team in 2012 and was an ISF Junior Women's World Championship Silver Medalist.

About Louisville Softball:
The Cardinals will open the 2017 season Feb. 10-12 at UNLV's Sportco Kick-Off Classic where they will face Southern Utah, CSU Bakersfield, UNLV and Indiana State. UofL is coming off of a 35-17 campaign and posted second place finish in the ACC in 2016.
• The Cards return 15 players from last year's team including All-ACC selections Maryssa Becker, Megan Hensley and Jordan McNary while welcoming five newcomers
 • Sandy Pearsall enters her 18th season as UofL's head coach. After building the program from scratch in 2000, Pearsall has guided the Cardinals to six conference championships. Under her watch, Louisville has made 13 consecutive NCAA regional appearances and served as a host site in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
