Team Records and Series Notes
- No. 5 Louisville earned its third-consecutive victory, opening the season 3-0 for fourth time in the last five years.
- Louisville improved to 5-1 all-time against Middle Tennessee, including 3-0 in Murfreesboro.
- The Cardinals improved to 83-61 all-time against current members of Conference USA.
- Louisville now is 64-42 against school from the state of Tennessee.
- Louisville returns to action on Saturday, when it faces Bowling Green in the Cardinals' first game of the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge.
Louisville Team Notes
- With the victory against Middle Tennessee, the Cardinals have won 28 of their last 32, dating back to last season.
- At No. 5 in the Associated Press poll, Louisville was the highest ranked team to visit the Murphy Center since No. 4 Tennessee played at the venue to open the 2013-14 campaign.
- The Cardinals had two players finish with at least 20 points apiece, marking the first time since 2016, when Myisha Hines-Allen (27) and Asia Durr (23) accomplished it against Syracuse on March 5.
- Louisville has scored at least 70 points in each of its first three games for the third time in the last four seasons.
- After easily surpassing the 70-point mark, the Cardinals boast a 161-17 record (.904) when reaching the plateau under Walz. The Cardinals were 18-3 when scoring at least 70 points last year.
- Women's basketball moved to a four-quarter format last year. In tracking the Cardinals' defensive performances, the team held opponents to single-digit points 25 times last year. Louisville held Middle Tennessee to nine points in the first period. It is the third time this season the program has held an opponent to single digits in a quarter.
- Louisville connected on eight 3-pointers in the game, giving the team 22 through three games for an average of 7.3 per contest.
- The Cardinals totaled a season best in both free throws made (21) and percentage (77.8, 21 of 27). It is the most free throws made in a game since Louisville hit 24 at Georgia Tech earlier this year on Jan. 3.
- Louisville made 31 field goals in the victory, the third-consecutive game with at least 30. The last time the Cardinals had a string of at least three games with 30 field goals was during the 2014-15 season, connecting on that many in four-consecutive contests: 38 vs. Western Kentucky (Nov. 25, 2014); 39 vs. Lafayette (Nov. 28, 2014); 35 vs. Valparaiso (Nov. 30, 2014); and, 35 vs. Iowa (Dec. 4, 2014).
- The Cardinals dished out 19 assists on 31 made baskets, a 61.3 percent rate.
- Louisville tallied seven blocks in the game, matching a season best.
- Louisville led for 39:26 in the contest, rolling to as many as a 24-point lead (fourth period)
- The Cardinals achieved season highs in offensive rebounds (15) and total boards (44).
- For the third-consecutive game, Louisville forced at least 20 turnovers (32 by UT Martin; 23 by Belmont; 20 by Middle Tennessee).
Louisville Individual Notes
- With her first basket, a layup at the 8:10 mark in the first quarter, Myisha Hines-Allen became the program's 26th member of the 1,000-point club.
- She registered 17 points in the contest, giving her 1,016 for her career. Hines-Allen needs 19 more to pass Stephanie Edwards (1,034, 1980-85) for 25th place on the school's all-time scoring list.
- Mariya Moore finished a game- and season-high 27 points in 36 minutes. She went 9-for-14 from the field, hitting two 3-pointers. Moore also had six rebounds and assists.
- It is the 15th time in Moore's career that she has scored at least 20 and the third-highest point total in her career.
- With her scoring performance, Moore is now 19 points shy of 1,000.
- Moore hit a pair of 3-pointers, bumping her career total to 143, and is tied for 10th place with Angel McCoughtry (2005-09) on the school's career list.
- Asia Durr scored 22 points in 30 minutes of action, connecting on 9-of-19 field goals. She hit four 3-pointers, giving her 15 through three games. The sophomore also had three assists and one steal.
- Freshman Ciera Johnson logged a season-best nine rebounds, while scoring six points.
- Kylee Shook swatted a season-best four shots, the most since Sara Hammond had five blocks against USF on March 23, 2015.
