Donohue and Wynn Capture Commodore Scramble Doubles Title

Sean Donohue and Parker Wynn cap the tournament with three straight wins

The University of Louisville's Sean Donohue and Parker Wynn were crowned the Vanderbilt Commodore Scramble Doubles Champions on the final day of the tournament Sunday. The duo finished the tournament with a 3-0 record.

"I'm proud of Parker and Sean for winning the doubles division here at Vandy," said UofL men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma. "Last season, Brandon Lancaster won the singles division so we have had some success in this tournament."

Donohue, a senior from Louisville, Ky., and Wynn, a freshman from North Richland Hills, Texas teamed to beat Middle Tennessee's Miguel Negre Fernandez and Gian Issa 8-4 in the finals of the tournament for the duo's third straight win in as many days."

Freshmen Fredrik Moe (Moss, Norway) and Clement Filho (Paris, France) also picked up a doubles win, defeating Lipscomb's Philippe Courteau and George Wong 8-4.

In singles action, Donohue posted his second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 decision against Middle Tennessee's Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore 6-2, 6-2. Wynn was also perfect on the final day after picking up a 7-6, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Vanderbilt's Billy Rowe. Filho rounded out Cardinals' singles wins by defeating Tennessee Tech's Jorge Alfonzo 6-3, 7-5.

"Sean had in his mind to go 2-0 today and he added a nice singles win against a very good player from MTSU," said Ecarma. "Freddy won in doubles again with a different partner in Clement Filho. Parker finished his tournament by winning against one of the top new players in the SEC. Lastly, I am happy for Clement who won his final three matches of the tournament which will help his confidence."
