Men's Tennis Posts Six Wins to Open ITA All-American Championships

Hedley, Wynn and Rouanet advance to third round of prequalifying draw

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up six wins as three player advanced to the third round on the first day of the Saint Francis ITA All-American Championships Prequalifying Draw on Saturday in Tulsa, Okla.

George Hedley advanced to the third round with a pair of singles wins. The sophomore defeated Oral Roberts' Michael Sosnowski 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 and followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Louisiana's Eric Perez.

Parker Wynn also posted two singles wins on the day. The freshman defeated Samford's Justin Ghavami 6-3, 6-3 and Dayton's Zach Barry 6-4, 6-3 in the second round.

Junior Nicolas Rouanet beat Marquette's Alvaro Verdi 6-2, 6-3 and Western Michigan's Matt Hamilton 6-2, 6-2.

Junior Ciro Lampasas won his first set 6-2, but fell 6-2, 7-6(3) to Texas A&M's Alexandre Bakshi in his first round match.

Junior Santiago Salazar picked up a 6-4 first-set win against Texas A&M's Kevin Lam, but lost the next two sets 7-6(2), 6-4.

After receiving first round bye, sophomore Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff lost to LSU's Nikola Samardzic 6-4, 6-4, in the second round.

Singles play will continue Sunday morning.
