The University of Louisville women's tennis team took the doubles point and all but one singles matches to beat Morehead State 6-1 Sunday morning at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

"We had a better performance today and each match we play we are getting better. The lapses in concentration are less and less so that is encouraging," said Mark Beckham, UofL head coach. "Starting this afternoon, the level of competition will make a marked upswing so we will truly get to see where we are at. We are as prepared as we can be to play a very good Xavier team."

The No. 3 doubles team of Elle Stokes and Ariana Rodriguez beat Morehead's Lindsey Wild and Maria Orellana 6-0 before Olivia Boesing and Sena Suswam clinched the point at No. 2 with a 6-2 win over Hayley Wild and Zina Mehikic.

In singles, Abbie Pahz scored first with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Hayley Wild. Ariana Rodriguez scored next for the Cardinals, rolling 6-1, 6-2 over Lindsey Wild at No. 6. Sena Suswam clinched the winning point at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over MSU's Maria Orellana. The Cards added points when Jessie Paul beat Zina Mehikic 6-3, 6-0 and Olivia Boesing won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5.
