The Cardinals begin the fall campaign in a four-team, 36-hole tournament.
NORCROSS, Ga. – The University of Louisville women's golf team opens its fall campaign at the Fall Kickoff on Tuesday morning in a four-team, 36-hole tournament on The Highlands Course at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Ga.
The single-day, 36-hole tournament will play on the par-72, 6,284-yard course. Along with the Cardinals, golfers from Georgia, Georgia State, and Tennessee will participate in the event that commences with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. ET.
Live results can be accessed through Golfstat.com.
The course draws special interest for fourth year head coach Courtney Trimble, as the 2013 AAC Coach of the Year grew up playing at the venue.
Louisville, like Georgia, will feature two teams in the tournament. The Cardinals' A team consists of Laura Restrepo, Katie Mitchell, Olivia Cason, Molly Skapik, and Jacqueline Twitty. The program's B team features Louise Oxner, Lexie Long, Shannon Gramley, Ellen Kehoe, and Meredith Moir.
Mitchell highlights the team's returnees. The senior paced the Cardinals last year with a 74.18-stroke average and had five top-10 finishes. Classmate Laura Restrepo boasted a 74.52-stroke average, totaling four top-10 finishes in 2014-15. Skapik, also playing on the A team, took part in 18 rounds last season, and both she and Restrepo competed this summer in the 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur.
Louisville's freshmen were also active in the summer. Long reached the championship flight at the WWGA National Amateur Championship after advancing from stroke play. Moir and Meghan Nay reached match play as well. Cason tied for 15th later in the summer at the Kentucky Women's Open.
