Four Cardinals Named to All-ACC Academic Team

Kyle Funkhouser was among four Cardinals named to the All-ACC Academic Team on Monday.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Louisville junior Kyle Funkhouser, sophomore Nick Solak and freshmen Devin Hairston and Lincoln Henzman were named to the All-ACC Academic Baseball Team as announced Monday by Commissioner John Swofford.
Funkhouser is a native of Oak Forest, Illinois majoring in marketing, while Solak hails from Woodridge, Illinois and is majoring in finance. Both Hairston and Henzman are majoring in sport administration and both are natives of Lexington, Kentucky.
On the field, all four players played significant roles for the Cardinals in 2015 with Funkhouser pacing the way with his 8-5 record and 104 strikeouts in 17 starts and 112.1 innings pitched. Solak hit .324 with a team-high 47 runs scored and 15 doubles while starting all 65 games. Hairston started 56 games and played in 60 games overall driving in 32 runs, while Henzman was 5-2 with two saves and 2.32 ERA in a team-leading 28 appearances on the mound this season.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
In its inaugural season in the ACC in 2015, Louisville set a conference record for league wins in a single season finishing with a 25-5 mark overall to win the Atlantic Division. Chosen as a national seed for the second time in school history, the No. 3 Cardinals finished 47-18 overall after falling just short of a third straight College World Series berth with an NCAA Super Regional loss at Jim Patterson Stadium.
