
Women's Tennis Set to Host WFU and UNC

The University of Louisville women's tennis team continues home dual match play with two ACC matches this weekend. The Cards will face No. 63 Wake Forest at 4 p.m. on Friday before taking on No. 1 North Carolina at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Both matches will take place at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cards currently sit at 10-8 in dual match play and 2-3 in conference play after falling to Georgia Tech 5-2 and Clemson 7-0 last weekend. Sophomore Oliva Boesing holds an 11-3 record in duals play while freshman Jessie Lynn Paul holds a 10-5 duals record. The team of Elle Stokes and Ariana Rodriguez (8-4) and Chloe Willetts and Olivia Boesing (10-6) lead the Cardinals in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.
No. 63 Wake Forest boasts a 9-6 record in dual matches and 0-4 conference play after falling then-No. 49 Virginia Tech 6-1 last weekend. The Demon Deacons are led by sophomore Kimmy Guerin and junior Xue Zhang at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Guerin boasts an 8-5 record at the No. 1 spot while Zhang holds an 8-7 record in duals play. Redshirt sophomore Samantha Asch adds an 8-4 duals record splitting time at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. The team of sophomore Luisa Fernandez and junior Kasey Gardiner holds a 5-3 duals record at No. 1 doubles while the team of Asch and Guerin boasts a 5-2 record at No. 2 doubles.
No. 1 North Carolina holds a perfect 15-0 record in dual match play and 3-0 in conference play this season after defeating East Carolina 4-0 and Charlotte 7-0 last weekend. The Tar Heels have seven players who hold a national ranking with sophomore Jamie Loeb leading the squad with a No. 8 national ranking and an 8-1 duals record at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Hayley Carter boasts a No. 14 record and a perfect 9-0 duals record while senior Caroline Price adds a No. 16 national ranking and a 14-1 duals record. Junior Whitney Kay holds a No. 61 ranking and a 10-3 duals record while junior Ashley Dai holds a No. 66 ranking and a 9-1 record in dual matches. Freshman Marika Akkerman holds a No. 116 ranking and a perfect 3-0 record in dual matches while junior Kate Vialle holds a No. 125 ranking. The doubles teams of Loeb and Price hold a No. 12 ranking and a 13-1 record at No. 1 doubles. The team of Kay and Carter add a No. 18 ranking and a perfect 10-0 record in doubles play. Dai and Vialle hold a No. 36 ranking and boast a 5-2 record in doubles.
The Cardinals will take a weekend off before continuing conference play with road matches at Syracuse and Boston College at the end of the month.
