The University of Louisville women's tennis team defeated Saint Louis 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. It was the second of two wins on the day for the Cards, who improve to 9-1 in dual match play.

"The match was good in the sense that we kept our focus the entire way through," said head coach Mark Beckham. "To have that kind of focus and not let up is a good sign. We are continuing to play better each match and continue to have new experiences that we can use later on in the season."

The Cardinals opened the match with a sweep in doubles play. Ellie Gerlach and Jessie Lynn Paul defeated Brooke Urzendowski and Taylor Monken in No. 3 doubles before Ariana Rodriguez and Elle Stokes clinched the doubles point for Louisville and earned their fifth victory of the season in No. 1 doubles. They defeated Aspen Cervin and Madison Cook 6-3.

In singles play, Chloe Willets defeated Taylor Monken 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 5 spot to earn a second point for the Cards. Olivia Boesing followed suit, defeating Madison Cook in No. 4 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Jessie Lynn Paul clinched the win for the Cards by defeating Natalia Yacaman 6-3, 6-0 in No. 3 singles. In No. 1 singles, Elle Stokes held off a comeback by Aspen Cervin and won 6-1, 7-5. Ariana Rodriguez defeated Kelsey King 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot before Ellie Gerlach rounded out the scoring in No. 6 singles, defeating Brooke Urzendowski 10-8 in a tie break after each won a set 6-2.

The Cardinals will be back in action on Feb. 13 and 14 when they travel to Huntington, W.Va., to take on Marshall and Minnesota.
