Joachim Ball led a trio of Cardinals on the All-ACC Academic Team.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team had a trio of players, Joachim Ball, Daniel Keller and Tim Kubel, named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Team on Tuesday afternoon.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
Ball, who earned a degree in accounting last May, had six shutouts this season while starting 21 matches and ranked third in career shutouts at Louisville with 15 in his three seasons. A native of Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, Ball was selected as a Capital One Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) following the 2014 season.
Keller, who completed his degree in finance in December, started all 22 matches on the Cardinals' backline in 2014 and finished with 62 career starts and 74 match appearances for Louisville. A native of Carmel, Ind., Keller closed his Louisville career with six goals, including four game-winners, and four assists. In January, Keller was selected in the third round of the 2015 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by the LA Galaxy.
Kubel, a freshman from Stuttgart, Germany who is majoring in business, led the Cardinals with seven goals and added five assists while starting all 22 matches in his first collegiate season. Selected as the 2014 ACC Freshman of the Year as well as an All-ACC Second Team honoree, Kubel scored three game-winning goals this season and was 3-for-3 on penalty kicks.
Louisville begins its spring exhibition slate on Sunday, March 8 at 3 p.m., ET when new USL Pro team Louisville City FC visits Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. Ticket information for the match will be announced soon.
