
Women’s Basketball Takes on IUPUI on Sunday at Home

The Cardinals and Jaguars tip at 2 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's basketball team returns home on Sunday to play host to IUPUI at 2 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center.
The contest will air on CardsTV, and the radio broadcast will be available on WKRD 790 AM in Louisville, with Matt Andrews (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson (analyst) calling the action.
Louisville (3-5) had its two-game winning streak snapped on Thursday, when it fell 72-54 at No. 8 Kentucky. Louisville, which hit 75 percent of its free throws, shot just 36.4 percent from the floor and was outrebounded 36-27.
Briahanna Jackson scored a team-high 18 points and also led the Cardinals with eight rebounds and four steals. Myisha Hines-Allen was the only other Louisville player in double figures with 16 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Asia Durr and Mariya Moore each chipped in with seven points.
For the season, Moore ranks first on the squad with 14.4 points per game and also has a team-best 30 assists. Jackson is second in scoring (14.0), while collecting the most steals on the team with 24. On the glass, Hines-Allen is pacing Louisville at 7.1 rebounds per game, and Cortnee Walton is second at 6.3.
Collectively, Louisville ranks fourth in the ACC in 3-point field goal percentage (34.8) and free throw percentage (72.0).
IUPUI (7-2) has won seven of its last eight games, with its only loss in that stretch coming in the form of a one-point, 68-67 defeat at North Texas on Dec. 5. The Big Green outscored the Jaguars 24-10 in the final period for the victory.
IUPUI knocked down 49.2 percent of its shots, going 8-of-15 from 3-point range, against SIU-Edwardsville. The Jaguars also won the rebounding battle 43-31, with 16 boards coming on the offensive end. At one point, IUPUI led by as many as 30.
Akilah Sims paced the Jaguars with 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting and eight rebounds. Shaquira Scott poured in 17 points, Sydney Hall added 13, and Jenna Gunn came off the bench and contributed 11 points and two steals.
Nationally, the Jaguars rank 26th in field goal percentage (46.2) and 29th in scoring margin (+19.1).
Under the direction of sixth-year coach Austin Parkinson, IUPUI was picked to finish third in the Summit League. Sims, who was part of last year's team that went 15-16, was named to the preseason all-conference first team.

SERIES HISTORY – IUPUI vs. Louisville
Louisville leads the all-time series 5-0, going 3-0 in contests played in Louisville.
The two programs met last year in Indianapolis, with Louisville winning 89-69 on Nov. 14, 2014. Mariya Moore scored 22 points in her Louisville debut, connecting on 8-of-9 field goals. Bria Smith added 15 points, and Myisha Hines-Allen, who also was playing in her first collegiate game, had 11 points. Collectively, Louisville hit 53.1 percent of its shots and scored 46 points in the paint. Defensively, the Cardinals scored 34 points off of IUPUI's 26 turnovers.
The last contest in Louisville took place in 2009, when the Cardinals posted an 88-58 victory over the Jaguars in Freedom Hall. Becky Burke scored a team-high 19 points, and Chauntise Wright had 18 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
