Women's Tennis Competes at Western Michigan

Pahz Advances
Three Cardinals won singles matches to lead the University of Louisville women's tennis team on Day 1 of the 2015 Bronco Super Challenge hosted by Western Michigan.
Sophomore Abbie Pahz defeated Paula Gutierrez of Indiana 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals against Anastasia Reimchen of Iowa on Saturday. Junior Olivia Boesing prevailed in the first set 6-4 before falling in the second set, 6-2 against Aimee Tarun of Iowa. In the tiebreaking set, Boesing used a 6-3 victory to advance to the semi-finals against Danielle Wolf of Indiana. Elle Stokes won her first match as part of the Bronco Challenge Round Robin against Taylor Tamblym with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Stokes will face Montana Crawford in Round 2 of the Round Robin on Saturday.
Jessie Lynn Paul was edged by Melina Lyubomirova of Western Michigan 6-2, 7-6 (7). Sena Suswam fell to Zoe Douglas of Iowa 6-2, 6-3 while Ariana Rodriguez also fell to Madison Appel of Indiana 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles action, the duo of Boesing and Pahz fell to Paula Gutierrez and Danielle Wolf of Indiana, 6-2 before rebounding with a 6-3 victory over Adorabol Huckleby and Aimee Taurn of Iowa. The team of Paul and Stokes fell to Tracy Kuhle and Barbare Eristavi of Western Michigan 7-5 but prevailed over Diana Tokar and Aleeza Kanner of Marquette 6-3. The duo of Suswam and Rodriguez fell 6-1 to the Indiana pair of Sarah Boron and Kim Schmider before falling 6-4 to Melina Lyumbomirova and Denise Azoui of Western Michigan.
Saturday's action will consist of two rounds of singles action and a round of doubles action.
