Ellen Kehoe shot consecutive rounds of 1-under-par 71 in the tournament.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A freshman pacing the University of Louisville women's golf team – it's a theme the Cardinals might get used to this season.
After one of the program's six freshmen led the team in the second tournament of the season in late September, a new leader arose in Ellen Kehoe. The Campbellsville, Ky., native shot consecutive rounds of 1-under-par 71 on Monday and sits in first place at the Bearcats Fall Classic in Cincinnati.
Kehoe, who is competing in just her second collegiate contest, is tied for the tournament lead with eight birdies and has the best overall par-4 score with a 3.85. Boasting a two-round score of 2-under-par 142 at the TPC's River Bend Golf Course, Kehoe has a three-stroke advantage heading into the final round.
Shannon Gramley pushed her way into the top 10 on the leaderboard behind a 3-over-par 75 in the second round, holding an overall 8-over-par 152. The junior is tied for eighth overall with five birdies, with four coming in the second round.
Freshman Jacqueline Twitty is tied for 18th, with a 14-over-par 158, and junior Louise Oxner rounds out the Cardinals' scoring quartet with a 15-over-par 159 to tie for the 21st-best score in the event.
Overall, the Louisville Red team is 11 strokes off the lead after a one-day, two-round composite of 35-over-par 611.
The Cardinals conclude the event on Tuesday, teeing off at 8:30 a.m., while Louisville's Black team begins competition at the Tar Heel Invitational on Friday in Chapel Hill, N.C.
