Saturday's game was the 10th meeting all-time between Louisville and Duke with the Blue Devils extending their advantage to 6-4 overall. Despite the loss, the Cardinals have won four of the last six in the series.
Louisville dropped to 11-2 at home this season and 77-11 all-time at the KFC Yum! Center (fifth season as the home facility for the Cardinals) while suffering just its second loss of 10 or more points ever in the facility.
Saturday marked the Cardinals' first loss of 10 or more points in more than three years dating back to a 74-63 loss at Marquette on Jan. 16, 2012.
Louisville trailed at halftime (30-20) for just the third time this season while the 10-point margin was the largest deficit after 20 minutes since trailing Syracuse 35-22 at halftime of the 2013 Big East Tournament title game on March 16, 2013 at Madison Square Garden (Louisville came back to win the game 78-61).
The Cardinals finished with a 38-32 edge on the glass and lost for the first time this season when outrebounding an opponent (10-0 prior to Saturday).
Ranked among the national leaders in steals at 10.2 per game entering Saturday, Louisville finished with four against the Blue Devils, one more than the season low of three.
Louisville finished at 29.5 percent (18-of-61) from the field on Saturday for the second lowest percentage of the season.
The Cardinals finished with fewer than 20 made field goals (18 total) for the fifth time this season.
Saturday's announced attendance of 22,791 marked the sixth largest crowd ever at the KFC Yum! Center, including the second largest this season.
Louisville honored its 1980 NCAA Championship team on Saturday with a halftime ceremony at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals also wore special adidas uniforms featuring a 1980's-inspired blend with a modern take on the uniforms won by Louisville's 1980 and 1986 NCAA title runs.
