Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 at Morehead State

The University of Louisville women's soccer team fell 2-0 at Morehead State on Friday night in Jayne Stadium. The Cardinals fall to 2-4-0 on the year while Morehead State improves to 4-1-2.
The Eagles struck early in the match when Jade Flory scored her sixth goal of the year at 5 minute mark. Louisville responded with a shot on goal by Chatham DeProspo but the Eagles' keeper made the save. The Cardinals continued to keep possession, looking for the equalizer.
Chinyelu Asher had a shot blocked by the defense in the 24th minute. Shannon Dennehey and Rachel Avant each had shots go wide in the 43rd and 44th minute. Just before the buzzer, freshman Kaela Dickerman had a shot on goal but was unable to convert. Morehead State finished the half with a 1-0 lead.
The Cardinals finished the first half with a 5-3 lead, while the Eagles had a 6-3 corner kick advantage. Cardinal keeper Paige Brown did not have a save in the half, while Elizabeth Floyd finished with two saves.
The Eagles took possession early in the second half. Brown came up with a save in the 47th minute off another shot from Flory. The Cardinal defense blocked two shots in the 51st and 52nd minutes. Freshman Inger Katrine Bjerke had a free kick but Floyd made the save.
The Eagles stuck again in the 61st minute with a goal by Holly Tilley for a 2-0 lead. The Morehead State defense blocked a shot by Lexie Niedoba in the 68th minute. Alison Price had a shot in the 73rd minute that went wide. Two minutes later Kari Weinland's shot hit the post. The Cardinals were unable to get another good chance.
Both teams finished the game with nine shots each. The Eagles held a 10-5 corner kick advantage. Brown finished the match with two saves while Floyd finished with three.
Louisville will be back in action on Sunday as they host Kent State in Lynn Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
