Women's Basketball Hosts Houston on Wednesday Night

The No. 3 Louisville women's basketball will host Houston in a second matchup of the season on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. The game will be broadcast live on WHAS (Channels 11.2, Time Warner 432, Comcast 207). It can also be heard live on the Cards Radio with Matt Andrews and Adrienne Johnson, carried locally on WKRD 790 AM.
On Sunday, Louisville brought home an 82-66 win over Memphis. Emmonnie Henderson led the pack with a career-high 19 points. She also contributed seven rebounds. The Cardinals went into halftime with a double-digit lead, and continued with a quick 14-2 run at the start of the second half. Louisville struggled with turnovers, committing 20 versus 12 for Memphis. The Tigers concentrated early on guarding Shoni Schimmel as she scored nine 3-pointers in the previous matchup of the two teams. Schimmel, however, would finish with 18 points. Asia Taylor added 13 points and eight rebounds.
Louisville (25-2, 13-1 AAC) has won 18 of its last 19 games. The team is led in scoring by Schimmel, who averages 17.7 points per game and is ranked second in the nation in 3-pointers per game. Sara Hammond ranks second in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 11.1 points and 6.4 boards per game, respectively. Taylor averages just below Hammond in scoring with 11.0 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 boards per game.
Houston (5-20, 1-13 AAC) enters the Feb. 19 game after falling 67-50 to SMU on Saturday. Marche' Amerson led the Cougars with a team-high 15 points, her 12th double-digit scoring game of the season. Te'onna Campbell added 11 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Demetria Foreman added six points, grabbed a career-high seven rebounds, and dished eight assists. Alecia Smith contributed nine points.
Campbell leads the Cougars in scoring with 9.7 point per game. She also ranks second on the team in rebounding with 6.9 boards per game. Amerson follows closely behind in scoring with 9.6 points per game. Yasmeen Thompson ranks third in scoring, averaging 7.7 points per game. She leads the team in rebounding with 8.1 boards per game. Foreman rounds out the top scorers with an average of 6.2 points per game.
The game is the final $2 beverage promotion of the season. Bud, Bud Light and all soft drinks will be $2.
