Louisville Postgame Notes
No. 12/11 Louisville 89, Western Kentucky 67
November 25, 2014 - KFC Yum! Center
Team Notes
- With the win, Louisville now has a 62-8 record at the KFC Yum! Center.
- Jeff Walz has an 82-18 record in non-conference games while at Louisville after the victory against Western Kentucky.
-
- The Cardinals extended their nonconference regular season home game win streak to 17. It began on Dec. 8, 2012, against Valparaiso.
- Louisville picked up its fourth-consecutive victory against Western Kentucky and improved to 8-5 against the Hilltoppers in Louisville. The all-time series now stands at 19-15 in favor of Western Kentucky.
- Louisville's 22-point win over Western Kentucky marks its largest margin of victory over the Hilltoppers in series history.
- The Cardinals registered their fifth double-digit victory of the season.
- The Cardinals have an 81-60 all-time record against current Conference USA schools.
- Louisville grabbed 17 offensive rebounds, the seventh-consecutive game with double digits on the offensive end (extends to the 2013-14 season; 10 versus LSU on March 30, 13 against Maryland on April 1).
- Louisville's bench produced 27 points, pushing the season average to 25.8 points from the reserves.
- Louisville had 44 points in the first half and 45 in the second, marking the third contest in which the Cardinals have scored at least 40 points in each half.
- Louisville's 72 points in the paint are the most in the Jeff Walz era and the most since that statistic was tracked in 2000-01.
- The Cardinals did not connect on a 3-pointer in the game, going 0-for-6 from long range. It was the first time Louisville did not hit a 3 since Jan. 27, 2013, when the Cardinals went 0-for-7 against St. John's.
- Louisville had two players finish with at least a double-double, the first time since Asia Taylor (25 points, 15 rebounds) and Sara Hammond (12 points, 11 rebounds) posted a double-double against Rutgers on Feb. 23.
- Louisville totaled 24 assists in the victory, the most since dishing out 26 during the 2013-14 season at Houston on Jan. 21.
Player Notes
- Bria Smith recorded the sixth triple-double in school history, registering 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. She became the third Louisville player to achieve the feat and first since Angel McCoughtry did it - 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals - on Dec. 10, 2008, against Hartford.
-
- Smith's points (22), assists (10), and field goals made (9) were all career highs.
- Smith had four steals in the game, giving her 209 for her career and pushing her into sole possession of sixth on the school's all-time chart.
- With her 22-point performance, she needs only two more points to reach 1,000 for her career. She would become the 24th member of Louisville's 1,000-point club.
- Sara Hammond produced 16 points and 10 rebounds in the victory, marking her 15th career double-double and first since totaling 12 points and 11 rebounds against Rutgers on Feb. 23.
- Myisha Hines-Allen had a season-best 16 points, tied her season high with seven rebounds, and matched season bests in field goals made (7) and blocked shots (2).
- Emmonnie Henderson came off the bench and scored 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting in 16 minutes of action. It's the ninth time in her career that she has reached double-digit points - second this season - and it's the most points she's accumulated since scoring 19 against Memphis on Feb. 16.
