
Volleyball Sweeps Syracuse

Janelle Jenkins had 12 kills and to lead the University of Louisville volleyball team to a 25-17, 26-24, 25-18 in ACC volleyball action in Syracuse Friday night.
The Cards move to 4-3 in the league and 11-7 overall with the win. UofL hit .290 and had seven blocks. Syracuse drops to 8-12 and 0-7 in the ACC.
"I was excited about our blocking and defense tonight, said UofL head coach Anne Kordes. "We need to get better at serving, as we had a season high in errors and that disrupts our rhythm . I liked the way we fought back in the second set and held off set point four times for the win."
In the first set, UofL trailed 10-6 early and then took the lead for good at 17-16. The Cards ran off five straight to win the set 25-17. UofL hit .333 led by Janelle Jenkins' six kills and .500 hitting.
In the second set, Syracuse powered out to a 9-3 lead early and held the lead. SU had set point at 24-21 but four straight by the Cards sparked by a big block at the first set point by Tess Clark and Janelle Jenkins. UofL hit .325 to SU's .139 in the set with four blocks.
The Orange seemed deflated after falling in the deuce set and Cards charged to a 9-1 lead in the third set. The Cards kept widening the spread as and got to set and match point at 24-13. The Orange ran off five straight but fell 25-18 in the final.
The Cards head to Raleigh to face NC State Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
