The University of Louisville women's tennis beat Missouri 4-0, in the consolation match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Sunday at the Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla.

"Today was a good bounce back from yesterday," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham. "I didn't know for sure hos they would respond after fighting as hard as they did yesterday and losing to Florida. But they came out with a lot of energy. The freshmen are contributing which is breat to see. We needed them against a Missouri team that is ranked ahead of us. This was a solid weekend for us, pushing the No. 2 team in the nation and beating a good Missouri tea should help us quite a bit moving forward with the season."

U of L is now 1-1 and the Tigers fell to 2-2 on the year.

The Cardinals earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 play. At No. 1, Louisville's Manuela Velasquez and Becca Shine defeated senior Cierra Gaytan-Leach and freshman Cassidy Spearman, 6-4. U of L senior Julia Fellerhoff and Olivia Boesing beat MU's Rachel Stuhlmann and Madison Rhyner 6-2 loss at No. 2 doubles.

In singles action, Louisville posted wins at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles to take the victory. Shine beat Gaytan-Leach at No. 1 play, 6-0, 6-3, Fellerh+off beat Kelli Hine No. 2, 6-4, 6-1, and Elle Stokes beat Rhyner, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.
