The No. 65 ranked University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 to the No. 74 Blue Demons Saturday in Chicago.

DePaul improved to 3-1 with the win, while the Cardinals dropped to 1-2.

"We ran into a very hot team," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham. "They were full of confidence after beating #25 TCU 4-0 yesterday. They didn't let us sustain any momentum so I have got to give them credit. We are a pretty good team and they just wouldn't let us breathe. We will learn from it and get better."

DePauls Patricia Fargas and Ana Vladutu started off the afternoon with a 6-3 win over Manuela Velasquez and Rebecca Shine in the No. 1 doubles match. U of L's Julia Fellerhoff and Olivia Boesing beat DePaul at No. 2 doubles 6-4, but DPU's Rebeca Mitrea and Zaina Sufi topped Cassie Pough and Elle Stokes, 6-3, in the No. 3 match to give DePaul the early 1-0 match advantage.

In singles competition, Jasmin Kling handled Velasquez (6-1, 6-1) in the No. 4 match to give DePaul a 2-0 lead and Kelsey Lawson made it 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Stokes in the No. 3 position. Then, Fargas clinched the match for the Blue Demons with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 victory over Julia Fellerhoff. Rebecca Shine beat #52 Ana Vladutu 7-5, 6-1,

DePaul tacked on two more singles wins courtesy of Mitrea and Sufi to cap the seven-win day and five-point team victory. Mitrea beat Pough in the No. 6 match (6-3, 6-4) and Sufi earned her third-straight win courtesy of a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 triumph over Rebecca Bodine in the No. 5 slot.
