No. 5 Cardinals Travel to USF on Sunday

The fifth ranked Louisville women's basketball team will face USF on Sunday, Jan. 12 in the Sun Dome at 3:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU. The game can also be heard live on the Cards Radio with Matt Andrews and Adrienne Johnson, carried locally on WKRD 790 AM.
The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 15-1 and a league record of 3-0. Last Saturday, the Cards faced long-time rival Cincinnati in what appeared to be a tough start. Shoni Schimmel ended up leading the team with 21 to beat Cincinnati 64-45. Louisville found its rhythm in the second half, increasing its field goal percentage improving from 18.8 percent shooting in the first half to 43.8 percent in the second.
Schimmel leads the Cardinals averaging double figures with 16.4 points per game. Sara Hammond ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.8 points. Hammond and Asia Taylor are tied for leading the team in rebounding with 6.6 boards per game. Bria Smith rounds out the top scorers with 10.0 points per game. South Florida enters Sunday's game with an overall record of 8-7 and a 3-1 record in conference play. The Bulls beat Temple 64-51 on Tuesday. It got a huge performance from Alisia Jenkins, who scored a career-high 18 points and added 12 rebounds. Senior Inga Orekhova extended her double-figure scoring streak to three games with 10 points.
Sophomore Courtney Williams leads the Bulls in scoring with 14.1 points per game. Jenkins ranks second on the team with 10.3 points per game. She also leads the team with 10.9 rebounds per game, and 19 total steals for the season. Tamara Taylor rounds out the top three scorers with 10.0 points per game.
