
Ruckenbrod Named BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week

Junior catcher Maggie Ruckenbrod of Louisville was selected BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week in the sixth weekly awards of the 2013 season.
Ruckenbrod helped lead the No. 11 Cardinals (23-3) to a 3-0 performance on the week. The junior batted .500 (5 for 10) with two home runs, and a double, three runs and five RBI. She posted a 1.200 slugging percentage and a .583 on-base percentage.
Ruckenbrod had at least one hit and one RBI in each game and hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie against No. 24 North Carolina. She also went 3 for 3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs in the 7-2 win over in-state rival Western Kentucky.
Defensively, Ruckenbrod caught two runners stealing in as many attempts and picked off one runner to improve her season total to six pickoffs.
