Junior Sara Hammond recorded her 10th double-double of her career finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Hammond has a double-double in the season opener in each of her three seasons.
With her third 3-point field goal of the game, senior Shoni Schimmel became the all-time leader surpassing Kristin Mattox's record of 271 made 3-point field goals.
Junior Bria Smith led the team in scoring with 16 points, along with eight rebounds and three steals. This is the first game Smith has led the team in scoring since she recorded 16 points in a 55-49 win over Villanova on Feb. 24, 2013.
Freshman Emmonnie Henderson is the first freshman to debut with double digit rebounds finishing with 12 since Hammond, who recorded 13 rebounds in her debut against Missouri State on Nov. 13, 2011.
Hammond's 11 rebounds and Henderson's 12, marks the first game with two players grabbing 10+ rebounds since the Tennessee State game on Dec. 31, 2012 when Hammond grabbed 11 and Sheronne Vails grabbed 10.
Junior Jude Schimmel knocked down a career-high three 3-point field goals.
Redshirt senior Tia Gibbs recorded 13 points in her first game since being injured against Missouri State on Nov. 13, 2011.
