
Women's Basketball Travels to West Virginia

Louisville women's basketball (17-5, 6-3) will travel to Morgantown, W.Va. on Saturday, Feb. 4 for a BIG EAST Conference showdown at West Virginia (16-6, 6-3) in WVU Colisieum at 4:00 p.m. Saturday's contest will air on 1080 AM (due to conflicts with the men's game) with Matt Andrews and Adrienne Johnson announcing.
The Cardinals are coming off a 86-61 defeat at No. 22 DePaul on Tuesday night. Three players are averaging double figures with sophomore Shoni Schimmel leading the team with 13.6 points per game while leading the team with 4.4 assists per game. Senior Becky Burke is second with 11.7 points per game while freshman Bria Smith is averaging 10.7 points per game. Three players lead the team on the boards with 4.5 rebounds per game.
West Virginia is coming off a 55-52 win at South Florida on Wednesday night. The Mountaineers own a home record of 11-2 this season. St. Bonaventure and Georgetown are the only teams to defeat the Mountaineers at home. Sophomore guard Taylor Palmer leads West Virginia in scoring with 12.9 points per game. Taylor leads the team with 57 made three-pointers, connecting on 32 percent from long range. Sophomore guard Christal Caldwell ranks second on the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game while shooting 37.1 percent from long range. Junior center Asya Bussie rounds out the top scorers with 11.5 points per game, connecting on 56.6 percent from the field. Junior Ayana Dunning leads the team on the boards with 8.6 rebounds per game.
West Virginia leads the series 6-3 over the Cardinals. The Cardinals are 0-3 against the Mountaineers on the road.
