
Collins Tabbed BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville senior Tori Collins was tabbed BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week and sophomore Taner Fowler was named to the honor roll after the first week of action.
Collins posted a 3-0 record and led the Cardinals to a 5-0 start and an FIU Combat Classic Title. In four appearances, she struck out 30 batters in 20.1 innings of work, including a career-high 13 strikeouts in a 2-0 shutout win over UMass. Collins also scattered 15 hits, holding opponents to a .195 batting average and earning a 1.72 ERA. In addition to her three games started, she also appeared in 2.1 innings of relief, allowing only one hit to pick up a win against Illinois.
Fowler started all five games at catcher, first base or designated player and led the Cardinals offensively, batting .500 (8 for 16) with two home runs, five RBI and three runs. She three multi-hit games including a 3-for-3 performance in the 4-1 win over Michigan State. Fowler also registered an .875 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage on the week.
The Cardinals (5-0) will travel to Greenville, N.C., Feb. 17-19 for the East Carolina Pirate Clash.
