Women's Basketball Hosts Valparaiso on Saturday Evening

Louisville, Ky. - The No. 8/8 Louisville women's basketball team will host Valparaiso on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals will be looking to bounce back into the winning column against the Crusaders after losing a heartbreaker to Kentucky on Sunday.
The Cardinals are 8-1 on the year after falling to Kentucky 48-47 on Sunday night. Shoni Schimmel and Sara Hammond led the Cardinals with 13 and 12 points respectively against the Wildcats. Overall, Shoni Schimmel leads the Cardinals in scoring (13.2 ppg), assists (4.2), steals (2.1) and 3-point field goals made (22). Sara Hammond follows her in the scoring column with 11.0 points per game and pulls down a team best 7.8 rebounds per game.
The Crusaders are 3-5 heading into Saturday's game and are coming off an 82-73 win over IPFW on Tuesday. Junior Tabitha Gerardot leads Valpo in scoring and rebounding with 12.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Sophomore Shaquira Scott is second on the team in scoring with 8.9 points per game and Lange ranks third on the team with 8.5 points per game. Charae Richardson leads the team with 32 assists on the year.
Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting between the two teams. Fans with a ticket stub from the men's game will receive a free ticket to the game.
