
Field Hockey Travels to Rutgers and Wake Forest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville field hockey team will return to BIG EAST Conference play this weekend when the Cards travel to Piscataway, N.J. to face Rutgers on Friday. They will stay on the road for a non-conference match at No. 22 Wake Forest.
About Louisville
Louisville enters the weekend with an 8-6 overall record and a 1-2 mark in BIG EAST conference play. The Cards are currently in a three-way tie for third with Providence and Villanova in league standings. Sophomore Becca Maddock leads the team with 19 points (8G, 3A). Freshman Elisa Garcia is second on the team with 14 points (5G, 4A) while senior Amber Thomas stands at third with 13 points (6G, 1A).
Up Last
The Cards are coming off of a 2-1 win over No. 11 Iowa on Sunday. Prior to that, Louisville fell short in a 2-1 loss to No. 12 UConn on Saturday.
Cards Against the Field
Rutgers, Oct. 12 - Piscataway, N.J.
Series Record: U of L leads 7-0
Last Meeting: Oct. 8, 2011 - Louisville won 4-2 at Trager Stadium. Second half goals by Hayley Turner, Erin Schneidtmiller and Heather Stevens helped the Cards overcome a 2-1 deficit. Amber Thomas gave Louisville an early 1-0 lead, but Gia Nappi and Carlie Rouh answered with goals for the Scarlet Knights.
Scouting the Scarlet Knights: Rutgers enters the weekend with a 7-6 overall record and a 1-3 mark in BIG EAST which places them at sixth in league standings. The Scarlet Knights are coming off of a 5-1 win over Georgetown in which current BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week Lisa Patrone notched a hat trick. Prior to that, Rutgers outlasted Bucknell 4-3 in overtime.
Patrone leads the team with eight goals and 19 points on the season. Sarah Stuby carries a 2.96 goals-against average and two shutouts.
Wake Forest, Oct. 14 - Winston-Salem, N.C.
Series Record: Wake leads 9-1
Last Meeting: Sept. 4, 2011 - Wake Forest won 3-2 in overtime at Wake Forest. Hayley Turner scored two goals, but the 15th ranked Cards could not hang on as No. 11 Wake Forest got goals from Lizzie Rae and Tyler Rae. Kaitlin Piosa registered the game-winner in overtime.
Scouting the Demon Deacons: No. 22 Wake Forest enters the weekend with a 5-7 overall record prior to a match at William & Mary on Friday. The Demon Deacons are coming off of a 6-1 win over Davidson on Tuesday. Six different players contributed with goals in the win.
Jess McFadyen leads the team with 18 points (8G, 2A) while Taylor Rhea follows with 15 points (7G, 1A). Kaitlyn Ruhf (5-7) carries a 2.24 goals against average and has combined on two shutouts.
Stratton and Conrad Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll
Freshman Victoria Stratton and senior Erin Conrad were selected to the BIG EAST honor roll on Oct. 8. Stratton's first career goal proved to be the game-winner in the Cards' 2-1 victory over No.11 Iowa. Conrad posted 14 saves, registered a .824 save percentage and a 1.55 goals-against average. Conrad had six saves in the 2-1 loss to No. 3 Connecticut and eight in the 2-1 upset of No. 11 Iowa.

U of L will return to Trager Stadium for the final two home games of the regular season. Louisville will honor seniors Erin Conrad, Haley Jurich, Natasha Leickly and Amber Thomas in their final home weekend on Oct. 20 when the Cards face BIG EAST foe Villanova at 12 p.m. The team will play its regular season home finale on Monday against No. 18 Ohio State at 4 p.m.
