
Women's Basketball Hosts Providence on Wednesday

Louisville, Ky. - Louisville women's basketball (14-4, 3-2) will look to look to rebound on Wednesday as they host Providence (10-8, 2-3) in the KFC Yum! Center at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on WHAS-TV (11.2, and Insight 432).
The Cardinals are coming off a heartbreaking overtime 71-68 overtime loss at Rutgers on Saturday afternoon. Three players are averaging double figures with sophomore Shoni Schimmel leading the team with 13.4 points per game while leading the team with 4.6 assists per game. Senior Becky Burke is second with 12.0 points per game while freshman Bria Smith is averaging 11.1 points per game. Cierra Warren leads the team on the boards with 4.9 rebounds per game.
Providence is coming off a 51-48 win over West Virginia on Saturday. The Friars are 3-5 on the road and have two wins in league play at home against the Mountaineers and a 60-52 upset of nationally ranked DePaul. Senior forward Teya Wright is averaging a team-high 13.3 points and leads the team in rebounding with 9.9 boards per game. Senior guard Rachel Barnes has started in 16 games and averages 11.5 points in large part to her team leading 26 three-pointers (shooting .306 from long range).
Louisville leads the series 4-2 against Providence. The Cardinals are 3-0 against the Friars at home.
Wednesday's contest will air on the U of L Radio Network (WKRD 790 AM) with Matt Andrews and Adrienne Johnson announcing. Fans that bring any Buckhead Mountain Grill receipt to any of the three ticket windows will receive a $2 ticket to the game.
