
Women's Basketball Announces Conference Slate and Television Appearances

Louisville, Ky. - The 2011-12 Louisville women's basketball schedule features seven games on national television. The Cardinals first appearance will be televised on ESPNU against national champion Texas A&M on Nov. 15 at 4:00 p.m. as part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. The BIG EAST Conference released the schedule along with the television schedule that features all 16 teams for the sixth-consecutive year and continues to be one of the top television slates in the nation.
The Cardinals will appear on the ESPN networks four times, including a BIG Monday game in the KFC Yum! Center against Notre Dame on Feb. 20. Louisville will also appear on CBS Sports Network twice and the BIG EAST TV Network once. Local coverage will be announced at a later date.
"It is a great opportunity for us to showcase our program on a national level," said head coach Jeff Walz. "Having this level of interest in our women's basketball team is a sign that we are headed in the right direction."
The BIG EAST conference is coming off a season that saw a record nine teams advance to the NCAA Championship and one team to the WNIT. The conference slate features home games against Connecticut, Notre Dame, DePaul, Marquette, South Florida, Providence, Syracuse and Villanova. The Cardinals will kick off BIG EAST play at Cincinnati on Dec. 14. The Cardinals will kick off the home league slate against Marquette in the KFC Yum! Center on Jan. 3. Louisville will then travel to St. John's on Jan. 8 for a 1:30 p.m. tip off on ESPNU.
Louisville will return to the friendly confines of the KFC Yum! Center on Jan. 11 to host South Florida at 7:00 p.m. before heading to Rutgers on Jan. 14. The Card will host Providence on Jan. 18 at 7:00 p.m. before heading to Georgetown for an appearance on ESPN2 on Jan. 22 at 5:00 p.m. Villanova will visit the KFC Yum! Center for the first time on Jan. 28 at 2:00 p.m. before the Cards travel to DePaul on Jan. 31. That game will appear on CBS Sports Network at 9:00 p.m.
The Cardinals will then travel to West Virginia on Feb. 4. Louisville returns home to host the Connecticut Huskies on Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m. Louisville will host Syracuse on Feb. 11 at 2:00 p.m. before heading to Pittsburgh on Feb. 14. The Cardinals will be featured in ESPN's Big Monday as they host Notre Dame on President's Day, Feb. 20, at 2:00 p.m. Senior day will fall on Feb. 25 as Louisville hosts DePaul at noon on BIG EAST Television. Louisville will wrap up the regular season on Feb. 27 at Seton Hall.
The BIG EAST Conference Tournament will be held in Hartford at the XL Center on March 3-6.
