LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team has earned the 2010-11 BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award, an honor that recognizes the highest collective grade-point averages in each of the conference's 26 sports.
The winners were chosen based on the 2010-11 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.
The squad finished the year with a 10-7 overall mark, recording at least 10 victories in each year of its four-year history. Five players were named to the IWLCA all-West/Midwest Region Team, including Bergan Foley and Emily Dashiell, who were first-team selections. Additionally, four were tabbed all-BIG EAST honorees.
Eleven conference schools had at least one team honored. Along with the women's lacrosse team, the men's basketball team earned the award for its sport.
