Women's Tennis Falls to Marshall

The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 51-ranked Marshall when the Herd took two-of-three doubles matches and five-of-six singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over the Cardinals Friday evening at the Brain David Fox Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Thundering Herd improved its overall record to an impressive 14-4. The loss dropped U of L to 11-7. At No. 1 doubles, Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zataprazna beat Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine 8-1 to stay undefeated in spring competition with an overall record of 15-0.
The No. 2 doubles pair of Amelia Harris and Stefanie Villajuan scored an 8-5 victory over Catherine Kellner and Maria Voscekova.
At No .3, Kara Kucin and Karli Timko secured the doubles point for Marshall with an 8-4 win over U of L's Kaysara Mandry and Gabrielle Duncan. U of L's Sonia Bokhari was the first to fall at No. 6 when Kara Kucin won 6-0, 6-1. MU's No. 5 singles player Maria Voscekova scored the next point, blanking Duncan 6-0, 6-0.
Catherine Kellner clinched the victory on court three as she topped Mandry in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. Zaprazna gave the Herd a 5-0 advantage after completing her match in second singles, winning 6-4, 6-4 over Rebecca Shine. With the outcome decided, Michaela Kissell at No. 1 won 7-5, 5-7, 10-8 over Fellerhoff. VCU and Louisville will square off against each other on Saturday at noon at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center..
