LOUISVILLE, Ky. - U of L senior guard Preston Knowles and sophomore guard Peyton Siva have received All-BIG EAST Conference accolades for the 2010-11 season.
Knowles was honored on the All-BIG EAST second team, recognizing him among the top 11 players in the league. Knowles is 12th in the BIG EAST in scoring (14.5), third in steals (1.8) and third in three-pointers per game (2.9).
Siva, an honorable mention selection, leads the league in steals (2.1) and is fifth in assists (5.0). It is both of the players' first selection on the all-league team. The pair helped the Cardinals to a third place league finish (23-8 overall).
In addition to the season honors, junior guard/forward Kyle Kuric was selected for the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for the last week of the season (Feb. 28-March 5). He averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and shot 66.7 percent from the field (18-of-27) in two games. He scored a game-high 25 points and matched a career high with nine rebounds vs. Providence. Kuric scored 21 points at West Virginia -- his fourth 20-point scoring effort in the last eight games -- while hitting 7-of-9 shots from the field (5-of-6 three-pointers). It was his second honor roll selection this year.
Louisville will play its first game on Thursday in the 2011 BIG EAST Conference Championship presented by American Eagle Outfitters.
