
Arslanbekova and Brauneis Named AVCA All-Northeast Region

University of Louisville volleyball players Lola Arslanbekova and Taylor Brauneis were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Northeast Region team.
This is the third straight year for Arslanbekova, a junior outside hitter from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to be on this list. Sophomore setter Taylor Brauneis, of Crystal Lake, Ill., is making her first appearance on the list and sophomore Emily Juhl of Louisville, Ky., was named to the Honorable Mention team.
Arslanbekova was named BIG EAST Player of the Year and was one of two unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team as well as having been tabbed as the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year (as one of two unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team). She was named to BIG EAST All-Tournament Team and was a four-time BIG EAST Player of the Week as well as a four-time BIG EAST Honor Roll Member. She was named MVP of the Crowne Plaza Cardinal Classic and Baymont Bobcat Classic as well as being named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge. She led the team with 566 kills (4.96/set) and 13 double-doubles and was second on the team with 283 digs (2.48/set). She is already fifth all-time in school history in kills and ranks third nationally in kills per set.
Brauneis was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and was second on the team with 33 aces. She was fourth on the team with 59 blocks (0.52/set) and fourth on the team with 228 digs (2.00/set). She averages 10.49 assists/set on the season, and is seventh all-time in program history in assists after passing Anne Kordes against Marquette, Estelle Armbruster against Villanova and Kelly Gillooly against Georgetown. She is second on the team with nine double-doubles. She was the setter for the national champion USA Volleyball A2 Team this past summer.
Juhl was named to All-BIG EAST First Team and All-BIG EAST Preseason Team. She was voted to the the All-Tournament Team for Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic and the Baymont Bobcat Classic. She is tops on the team with 35 aces (0.32/set) and second on the team with 282 kills (2.56/set). She ranks third on the team with 77 blocks (0.70/set) and third on the team with a .289 hitting percentage. Sixth on the team with 113 digs (1.03/set), she has recorded two double-doubles.
