
Natasha Watley to Headline 2012 Louisville Softball Bullpen Club Dinner

"Every year this dinner has just blossomed into a wonderful event to showcase our team and the sport of softball," said U of L head coach Sandy Pearsall. "This year Natasha Watley, one of the best shortstops premiere slappers in the game will be our featured speaker. Natasha has wealth of experience to share after winning two Olympic medals, an NCAA championship and playing professionally. She is a wonderful role model for anyone in the game."
About Natasha Watley
Watley has been successful on every level - collegiate, internationally and professionally. As a two-time Olympian, she helped her country to its third consecutive gold medal in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games by breaking the Olympic record for stolen bases. Four years later, she helped USA Softball to a Silver Medal finish in the 2008 Olympics. Watley is also a two-time Pan American Gold Medalist (2003 and 2007), two-time World Champion (2002 and 2006) and a three-time World Cup Champion (2006, 2007 and 2009).
While at UCLA, Watley was a four-time All-American shortstop. She led the Bruins to three straight Women's College World Series appearance and won the title in 2003. As a senior, was named Pac-10 Player of the Year and received the Honda-Broderick Award Winner as the top collegiate female athlete. She graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Business from Saint Leo University.
She is currently playing professional in Japan for Team Toyota.
About Louisville Softball
The Cards are coming off a 38-20 season in which they posted a runner-up finish in the 2011 BIG EAST Championship. Louisville earned a berth in its eighth straight NCAA regional and was selected to host for the second time in three years. The Cardinals return seven starters and 15 letterwinners including BIG EAST selection players Katie Keller, Alicja Wolny, Hannah Kiyohara, Caralisa Connell and Jennifer Esteban.
U of L will open the 2012 season Feb. 10-12 in Miami at the FIU Combat Classic.
More Bullpen Club Dinner Information
The Bullpen Club dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Archibald Room at the Galt House. A reception and silent auction start at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for the evening are $50/individual or $500/$750 for a table of 10.
