
Lola Arslanbekova Named All-American

Louisville junior outside hitter Lola Arslanbekova was named to the AVCA All-America Third Team as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. This is the 31st year the AVCA has distributed the awards, which will be handed out Dec. 16 at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year banquet presented by Zamst in San Antonio, Texas.
Arslanbekova, the 2011 BIG EAST Player of the Year was one of two unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team. She led the team with 566 kills (4.96/set) and 13 double-doubles and was second on the team with 283 digs (2.48/set). She is already fifth in school history in career kills and ranks third nationally in kills per set. She earns All-America honors after two consecutive years as AVCA Honorable Mention.
The selections were made by the AVCA Division I All-America Committee: Santiago Restrepo, Oklahoma; Sherry Dunbar, Indiana; Lisa Seifert, Southern Methodist; Claire Lessinger, Southern Methodist; Jennifer Greeny, Washington State; Craig Skinner, Kentucky; Jeff Nelson, New Mexico; Tonya Johnson, Georgia Tech. The AVCA Awards Chair is Dayton head volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield.
