TEAM
- Louisville and Gardner-Webb were meeting for the first time, making the Runnin' Bulldogs the 183rd different opponent in Cardinal history. UofL is now 126-57 (.689) all-time in first meetings with opponents, including 3-0 this year (also wins over Missouri State and Florida A&M).
- The Cards won their seventh consecutive game at the KFC Yum! Center, improving to 17-2 all-time in the arena. Louisville has won 10 straight non-conference games at home since the inaugural game at its new venue, a 63-50 defeat at the hands of #4/4 Tennessee.
- Like clockwork, another opponent traveled to Louisville and another found itself stymied by the Cardinal defense in the first half. Gardner-Webb managed just 14 points in the period, the seventh time in 19 games at the arena in which the opponent managed less than 20 first-half points (and the third time in four home games this year). UofL is allowing just 21.6 points in the first half at home over the past two seasons, including a baffling 18.3 this year.
- Gardner-Webb had 19 turnovers in that half alone, including 10 in the first 5:38. Guard KiKi Smith had nine of her team's first-half miscues, finishing with 13 - tied for the most by any opposing player over the last 12 seasons.

- GWU then scored just 13 points in the second for a total of 27, the second fewest ever by a Louisville opponent and tied for the fewest in a home game. The Cards had not permitted a foe that few points since Centre College scored a school-record-low 25 on Nov. 29, 1977.

- The Runnin' Bulldogs' 36 total turnovers were the fourth most for an opponent in Cardinal history and most since UofL forced Northeastern Illinois into a school opponent-record 39 miscues on Jan. 13, 1992.

- Twenty-one of the 36 turnovers came via UofL steals, giving Louisville its sixth-highest single-game steal total ever. The school record is 24, set against Morehead State on Jan. 20, 1990, and then tied against VCU on Jan. 23, 1994.

- Accounting for 18 of the 21 thefts were seven different players with two or more steals.
- Louisville has now recorded 10+ steals in nine of 10 games this season, averaging 12.8 per contest for the year. If it holds up, that average would go down as the second best in school history, eclipsed only by the 1976-77 squad's 13.2 average.
- GWU went 0-for-7 from three in the game, the sixth time in the last 17 years Louisville held the opposition without a 3-point goal and first since USF went 0-for-5 last season in Tampa (Feb. 19). Only twice in Cardinal history has an opponent taken more treys in a game without a make.

- The 3-point shutdown came immediately after Louisville allowed its opponents to hit 30 treys in a 3-game span (Florida A&M nine, Murray State 11, Kentucky 10), the most since Central Michigan (10), Utah (four), and Middle Tennessee (20) combined to hit 34 from Dec. 2-9, 2009, and the first time in school history the Cards had given up nine 3s in three straight games.
- Gardner-Webb lost its eighth straight game to begin the season, a year after the Runnin' Bulldogs reached the NCAA Tournament with a 23-11 record. GWU is averaging 41.0 points per game this season and has yet to break 50, largely the result of losing 84 percent of its scoring from that tournament team.

- Sophomore Antonita Slaughter put together one of the most impressive 3-point shooting displays in Louisville history, hitting seven of her nine attempts en route to a career-best 23 points. She connected on her first four attempts of the game, all of which came in a span of 3:32 in the first half and all of which came via Jude Schimmel assists.
- The seven threes tie for the fifth most in a game in Cardinal history, one shy of the program record of eight. Slaughter is the eighth different Cardinal to accomplish the feat and first since current senior Becky Burke against Tennessee on Dec. 16, 2009 (also 7-for-9).

- Slaughter's 7-for-9 day marked just the fifth time in school history a player had two or fewer misses on a day with 7+ makes from beyond the arc. April Goddard (8-for-10 on Dec. 18, 1996), Kara Kessans (7-for-8 on Nov. 25, 2009), Marju Sober (7-for-9 on Feb. 4, 2001), and Burke are the only others to accomplish the feat.
- The seven 3s sit as the third-highest output by a BIG EAST player this season. The only women to hit more in a game are league phenoms Sugar Rodgers of Georgetown (8-for-13 at Coppin State on Nov. 30) and Taylor Palmer of West Virginia (8-for-16 against Youngstown State on Nov. 11)
- Slaughter's career day came after she had missed eight consecutive 3s over the past six games and had not scored more than four points in a game all season. She had registered 16 points on 5-for-15 shooting for the year entering Saturday, including 2-for-11 from long range. Slaughter did have a solid freshman campaign from distance, hitting 28 of her 71 3s (.394), including 25 of 52 (.481) over a 20-game span mid-season.
- Slaughter also put together a solid afternoon on the boards, grabbing six total rebounds and four on the offensive glass. She has collected four or more rebounds five different times this year, encompassing all 28 of her 32 boards for the season.
- Thanks in large part to her passes to Slaughter, Jude set a new career best with six assists in a game, recording zero turnovers. No Louisville player has had more dimes in a game without a turnover since Feb. 17, 2009, when Tiera Stephen had seven.
- Jude now has 4+ assists in four different games this season.
- The younger Schimmel also notched two steals in her fifth career multi-steal game - games covering all of her thefts this year (she's never had just one).
- Senior Monique Reid (eight points) passed Jackie Spencer (1,443 career points) for seventh place on the Louisville career scoring list. Reid now has 1,447 in 110 career games with the Cardinals.
- Sophomore Shoni Schimmel hit two more 3s in the contest, extending her school-record streak of consecutive games with multiple 3s to 14. She is just two shy of the overall Louisville basketball record, a 16-game string put together by Taquan Dean to end the 2005-06 season.

- Schimmel also notched two steals in the game, her seventh multi-steal outing this season and sixth straight. She is averaging 2.9 thefts per contest for the year.
- Freshman Bria Smith also had a multi-steal effort (three) on Saturday, the eighth of her 10-game career.
- Smith also extended her streak of consecutive free throws made to 10, hitting all four of her attempts. This comes after Smith missed 10 of her first 24 career tries from the stripe (.583 free-throw percentage).
- Redshirt sophomore Cierra Warren blocked a pair of shots for her third straight multi-block game. Warren has six games with 2+ blocks through 10 contests this year, making her just the third Cardinal since 1980-81 with so many multi-block outings through 10 games. The others were Yuliya Tokova in 2006-07 and Janet McNew in 1982-83, each of which also had six through 10.
- Junior Asia Taylor had four of UofL's 21 thefts, marking a new career high. Fellow junior Shelby Harper also had a personal-best day in that category, tying a career mark with three.
