
Women's Basketball Hosts Pittsburgh on Sunday

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team plays host to BIG EAST foe Pittsburgh on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 12:00 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinal are coming off their third win over a Top 25 team this season with an 84-73 victory over 17th ranked St. John's on Tuesday.
Louisville enters the game with an overall record of 11-5 and a 2-0 BIG EAST record. With their win over St. John's, the Cardinals are currently on a three game winning streak. Junior Monique Reid leads the team in scoring averaging 16.6 points per game. Freshman Shoni Schimmel is second in scoring at 16.4 points per game, while also leading the team in assists with 5.9 per game. Senior Keshia Hines is tops on the glass with 6.5 rebounds per game.
Pittsburgh enters the game with an overall record of 8-6 and a BIG EAST record of 0-1. The Panthers are coming off a 70-62 loss to Duquesne on Wednesday. Senior Jania Sims leads the team in scoring averaging 14.5 points per game, while Taneshia Harrison is second with 13.4 per game. Senior Chelsea Cole rounds out the top three scorers averaging almost a double-double with 9.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, which leads the team.
Louisville leads the overall series 5-2 against Pittsburgh. In the last meeting, the Cardinals knocked off the Panthers 79-71 in the first round of the 2010 BIG EAST Tournament in Hartford, Conn. Louisville is 2-0 all-time against the Panthers at home.
The game will be broadcast live from the KFC Yum! Center on ESPNU. The game will also be broadcast on WKRD and UofLSports.com. Jim Kelch will call the action while Paul Sanderford adds the color commentary.
