TEAM
- Louisville improves to 5-3 all-time against Rutgers, with all of the games coming since the Cards joined the BIG EAST. U of L is 3-0 at home versus the Scarlet Knights.
- With the victory, the Cardinals extend their home winning streak to 10 games. Louisville is one of four teams in the BIG EAST with an active double-digit home win streak: Connecticut leads the way with a 72-game string (an NCAA record), followed by West Virginia (30), DePaul (14), and Louisville.
- Despite making 11-of-17 shots in the first half, Rutgers managed just 27 points, due in large part to Louisville holding the Scarlet Knights without an offensive rebound in the half (not to mention 14 Rutgers turnovers).
- Rutgers outshot Louisville 64.7 percent to 26.9 percent (7-for-26) in the period, but took only a one-point lead (27-26) into the break.
- The Scarlet Knights' final shooting mark of .514 (18-for-35) was the highest for a Cardinal opponent in a Louisville victory since USF shot 52.9 percent (27-for-51) in an 86-71 loss to the Cards on Feb. 8, 2004.
- Rutgers' 18-for-35 shooting line was remarkable in another way as well--the 35 shots are the lowest total for any Louisville opponent over the last 20 seasons. The total was low even for Rutgers--who takes the second-fewest shots per game in the BIG EAST (only Villanova shoots less)--as the 35 shots were the fewest for the Scarlet Knights in the last six seasons.
- The 35 field goal attempts are the fifth fewest in the NCAA this season.

- Louisville has held all 11 of its opponents at home this season to 31 points or fewer in the first half--the last 10 have all scored 27 or fewer. Cardinal opponents are averaging 23.3 points in the first half at the KFC Yum! Center this year.
- The Cardinals attempted 20+ threes and made 7+ for the fourth straight game. Louisville has not hit at least seven threes in five consecutive games since a five-game stretch from March 4-Nov. 12, 2006 (a stretch also marking the last time U of L shot 20+ threes in five straight games).
- The Cardinals' 17-0 run late in the second half, which turned a 42-39 deficit into a 56-42 lead, was Louisville's 18th run of 12 or more unanswered points this season. It was also the second-longest scoreless drought by any U of L opponent this season, one second behind the 9:49 scoreless stretch for Cincinnati on Jan. 22.

- The 18-game double-figure scoring streak is the third-longest by a BIG EAST freshman over the past six seasons, behind only Maya Moore's 31-game stretch in 2007-08 and Sugar Rodgers' 22-game streak last season (both career-opening streaks).
Consecutive games scoring in double figures, BIG EAST freshmen (since 2005-06)

- Schimmel's 11 three-point attempts on the day give her 170 for the season, already the eighth-most in one year in Cardinal history. The school record for three-point attempts in a season is 252, set by Sara Nord in 2003-04.
- Schimmel hit multiple threes (making three) for the sixth straight game.
- Schimmel and Rutgers' Khadijah Rushdan entered the matchup tied for the league lead in assists (conference games only), with Rushdan emerging in first after out-dishing Schimmel by a slim 7-to-6 margin on Saturday. Schimmel, who now has 13 games this season with six or more assists, is vying to become the first freshman to top the conference in assists during league games since West Virginia's Yolanda Paige (5.69) in 2001-02.
- Sophomore Tia Gibbs (four steals) collected her 15th multi-steal game of the season on Saturday. It was her 11th game this year with at least three steals and her eighth with at least four.
- Gibbs set a new career high with nine three-point attempts in the game, besting her previous high of eight (four makes) against #3 Auburn in the title game of the 2009 SEC Tournament (a game Vanderbilt won 61-54). Nine of Gibbs' 10 shots on Saturday came from behind the arc.
- Freshman Antonita Slaughter went 2-for-3 from behind the arc in the game, giving her 11 makes in her last 18 tries (.611) from downtown. The guard has hit 25-of-52 (.481) from long range over Louisville's last 20 games.
- Junior Monique Reid, who notched 17 points and six rebounds on the day, is averaging 17.9 points and 7.0 rebounds over Louisville's last 10 games.
