
Five Track & Field Men Earn Academic Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Five student-athletes on University of Louisville's men's track and field team were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's All-Academic Track & Field Team, the New Orleans-based organization announced Thursday.
Earning recognition for their academic achievements were Weston Banks (sport administration), Matt Bruce (management), Michael Eaton (exercise science and sport administration), Steven Hnat (exercise science and public health education) and Michael Johnson, Jr. (Pan-African studies).
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
Four female Cardinals - Lindsey Cook, Rachel Gehret, Amashi Kendall, Chinwe Okoro - were named to the USTFCCCA women's all-academic track & field team on July 28.
