LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's indoor track and field teams will have one last chance to earn qualifying marks for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend (March 5-6) when they travel to South Bend, Ind. and Blacksburg, Va. for the Alex Wilson and Virginia Tech Last Chance Meets.
U of L's field competitors will compete at Virginia Tech. The Cardinals track squad will compete at Notre Dame. The evening's two running events, the men's and women's 5,000 meters and distance medley relays, begin at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday and Saturday's events kick off at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame's Loftus Center. Virginia Tech's Rector Field House will host the field events on Saturday.
The Cards have 14 NCAA provisional qualifiers and four NCAA automatic bids entering this weekend's competition.
Louisville has had a week off to prepare after the women's and men's teams finished second and third at the 2010 BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 20-21. U of L captured eight BIG EAST individual titles and 19 medals, while setting five new school records.
"This is one final opportunity to get in and improve our position not only on our individual rankings, but also on our national rankings," said U of L Head Coach Ron Mann. "We have every expectation to do that."
The Cards will return to action on March 12-13 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
