The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 7-0 to Tulsa Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"Tulsa is obviously a very good team but we were much closer than the score indicated," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham. "Our inexperience shows up at bad times and it holds us back from beating our opponent."
The Cardinals dropped the doubles point, with Jo-Ann Van Aerde and Kaysara Mandry putting up a battle at No. 2 before falling 8-6 to Ewa Szatkowska and Anastasia Erofeeva at No. 2.
In singles, Louisville had a resilient effort from No 5 singles player Ashley Irvin, who was one of only two Cardinals to take her match into three sets before falling 1-6, 7-6 (4), 10-5 to Rebecca Row. Gabrielle Duncan went three against Michelle Farley at No. 6 before falling 5-7, 6-2, 10-2.
"I keep stressing to the girls that it is not a matter of skill, just a matter of us having a refuse to lose attitude," said Beckham, whose team now posts a 9-7 record.
