The University of Louisville women's tennis team dropped the doubles points but managed to tie the match at three before falling 4-3 in a three set final to visiting Akron Sunday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"We are extremely disappointed in the loss, we had match point to win the team match against an extremely talented team," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham, whose team is now 5-2. "Like I have said , this is the best team we have played all year. So the progress is there. But we are going to have to start beating teams at this level. I feel like that team will be an NCAA team. We are at that level at well so it is time for us to start getting our wins."
After U of L fell at No. 1 doubles, the No. 2 pair of Louise Noe and Mandy Brown battled but fell 8-6. Gabrielle Duncan and Amelia Harris won at No. 3 doubles 8-6 but it was not enough.
