Louisville, Ky. - Head Coach Jeff Walz announced today that freshman forward Ashley Rainey will miss the rest of the season due to a recommendation by the team's physician to deal with personal and family issues. The Cardinals have five BIG EAST games remaining in the regular season.
"We have had a lot of unexpected injuries this season," said Walz. "This team has been dealing with adversity all season and I expect them to continue to work hard and compete."
Rainey has seen action in 22 games and has started in 16 for the Cardinals. She ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 6.4 points per game and third in rebounding with 6.4 per game.
The Cardinals will travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday for a nationally televised game on ESPN2 at 5:30 p.m.
