
Volleyball Hits the Road Heading for Pitt, WVU Swing

University of Louisville volleyball team travels to Pittsburgh to face the University of Pittsburgh on Saturday Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. in Fitzgerald Field House and then on to Morgantown to play West Virginia University on Sunday Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. in the WVU Coliseum.
The Cards, winners of six of the last seven matches against Pitt, look to avenge a five set home loss at Cardinal Arena last year. U of L holds a 5-0 record against WVU in the BIG EAST series.
U of L pushed their BIG EAST winning streak to eight games with a come from behind victory over the Villanova Wildcats last week. The win helps the Louisville retain a share of the BIG EAST lead with Cincinnati with a 9-1 conference record. The Cards are led on offense by sophomore outside hitter Lola Arslanbekova and freshman outside hitter Emily Juhl. Arslanbekova had 25 kills and 16 digs against the University of Tennessee and 14 more kills against Villanova last week. Juhl also had double digit kills in both games with 13 kills at Tennessee and 10 against Villanova.
Pitt has a record of 11-15 overall and 5-5 in the BIG EAST. The Panthers are led by senior Amy Town who has seven double-doubles on the season. She recorded 19 kills and 14 digs against Syracuse, marking her fifth double-double in the last seven contest. Junior Kiesha Leggs added 13 kills and four blocks in that match.
WVU enters the weekend losers of their last four matches. West Virginia faces a steep challenge breaking the losing streak facing the top two teams from the conference in Cincinnati and Louisville this weekend. The Mountaineers lead the conference in digs with senior Bonnie West and junior Serinna Russo combining for nearly 10 digs per set. Senior Lauren Evans leads the team in blocks and kills with a .302 hitting percentage.
