
Volleyball Hosts Austin Peay for Regular Season Finale

The University of Louisville volleyball team finishes up its regular season schedule at home against the Ohio Valley Conference Champion, Austin Peay Lady Governors, Saturday Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. in Cardinal Arena.
The Cards (21-7) return home after a dominating week at the BIG EAST Tournament, winning the title for the third consecutive year, including a 3-0 sweep of No. 18 ranked Cincinnati in the championship final. The Cardinals will get their final tune up before heading into the NCAA Tournament.
The Cards are led by freshman Emily Juhl, who earned the Most Valuable Player for the BIG EAST Tournament. Juhl had 13 kills, hitting .565 and scorching home three aces in the finals victory. Sophomore Lola Arslanbekova and junior Gwen Rucker also made the All-Tournament team.
The Cards look to send seniors Lindsey Mango and Amanda Simmons out with their eighth straight home win.
Mango, who was named to the All-BIG EAST Tournament team last season, had another double digit dig game in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament this year. Lindsey holds fifth place overall in Cardinals history with 440 digs in a season back in 2007.
Simmons, a Muhammad Ali Scholar, leads the BIG EAST in blocks this season with 1.23 blocks per set. She has been a key part to a strong Cardinals defense that leads the BIG EAST in opponent hitting percentage and blocks per game, holding the opponents to a .165 hitting percentage and averaging 2.97 blocks per set, respectively.
Austin Peay come in with a (26-6) record and were winners of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship for the first time in 19 years. The Lady Govs are led by sophomore Nikki Doyle who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after recording 17 kills against Morehead State and finishing with 34 kills and a .321 attack percentage in the tournament. Senior Sarah Alisaleh and junior Ilyanna Hernandez also were named to the all-tournament team.
