The University of Louisville's volleyball team will return to Cardinal Arena and play host to the Villanova Wildcats on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
This will be Louisville's 10th BIG EAST match up this season. The Cardinals are currently 14-6 while the Wildcats enter at 19-4. Both teams have only one loss in the BIG EAST Conference this year. Villanova (7-1) fell to Marquette and Louisville (8-1) fell to Seton Hall. The Cardinals have never lost to Villanova in the past six years and hope to keep that record alive Friday night.
Coming off a hard-fought loss to Tennessee, which snapped an eight-game winning streak, Louisville hopes to end Villanova's six-game winning streak in BIG EAST play.
Villanova's redshirt sophomore outside hitter Morgan Petkorich leads the teams in kills with 272 and her teammate, junior middle blocker Maggie Mergen, is close behind with 256 kills. Freshman setter Alyssa Anderson picked up her third BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor this week and is leading the team in assists with 668. Two of Villanova's losses this season came at the UNC Invitational. The Wildcats fell to No.1-ranked Penn State and North Carolina, with their other two losses coming at the hands of Marquette and Delaware.
