
Volleyball Set to Face No. 21 Tennessee

The University of Louisville volleyball team heads to Knoxville, Tenn. to face the No. 21-ranked University of Tennessee on Wednesday Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. in Thompson-Boling Arena. This will be the fourth match in seven days for the Cards as they look to extend their winning streak to nine. Tennessee enters holding an 11-7 series record over the Cardinals, including a five set win last season in Cardinal Arena.
U of L added three victories last week to stretch their winning streak to eight matches. The Cards lead the BIG EAST in blocks with 2.96 blocks per set and boast the lowest opponent hitting percentage with a .153 average. Senior middle blocker Amanda Simmons had seven blocks against University of South Florida on Sunday. Simmons is the BIG EAST leader in blocks per set. Freshman Taylor Brauneis collected her fifth double-double of the year with 28 assists and 10 digs.
The No. 21-ranked Lady Vols are 16-5 overall and 8-4 in the SEC. Two of their losses came against the No. 1-ranked Florida Gators. UT senior outside hitter Nikki Fowler leads the team in kills with 277 and is second in digs with 216 for the season. Fowler has 11 double-doubles this year and 49 for her career. Junior outside hitter Kayla Jeter is second on the team in kills with 235 and senior middle blocker Leah Hinkey leads the team with 86 blocks.
