The University of Louisville swept the doubles point and then ran through the singles perfectly to beat Morehead State 7-0 Sunday evening in the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"Our goal was accomplished today," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham. "We played better today than yesterday. This team has a high ceiling that they have to make sure they stay disciplined with every point they play. Right now we are not quite disciplined on every point but we are in spurts. That is the next step in this team development. "
The Cardinals started by taking the doubles point. All three U of L pairs won handily led by the No. 1 team of Amelia Harris and Stefanie Villajuan, who beat Alix Young and Alexandra Rydberg 8-2.
Louisville won every set in singles with a highlight coming from Kaysara Mandry at No. 4 who beat Lauren Delany 6-1, 6-0 and Ashley Irvin at No. 5 beating Alix Lakow 6-0, 6-1.
"I am very happy with the way this weekend started our spring season and hopefully get momentum going for a great season," said Beckham.
