- U of L limited Indiana State to 101 total yards, its best defensive effort since holding Grambling to 60 yards in 70 offensive plays on Sept. 9, 2000 -- a span of 109 games. The Cardinals last held a team under 200 yards when Cincinnati gained 176 yards on Nov. 7, 2002.
- LB Jon Dempsey led the Cardinals with 10 total tackles (7 tackles, 3 assisted stops). He has double-digit total tackles in his last three straight games (9 tackles, 1 assist vs. West Virginia; 4 tackles, 7 assists at Rutgers last season).
- RB Victor Anderson gained 93 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns, his sixth career game with over 90 rushing yards. It was the second time in his career that he scored as many as two touchdowns in a game. He had three TDs against Kansas State last season (9/17/08).

- SS Terence Simien and Brandon Heath both produced their first career interception in the game.
- K Ryan Payne booted three field goals tonight, the first time a Cardinal player has kicked three field goals in a game since Art Carmody had three FGs in a 58-47 victory over Middle Tennessee on Sept. 9, 2007.
- QB Justin Burke completed 17-of-31 passes for 223 yards with two interceptions in his first collegiate start. After starting the game 1-of-8 passing, he completed his next six straight passes.
- U of L produced 419 total yards tonight. The Cardinals amassed at least 400 yards in four games last season.
