
Men's Track and Field Signs Hobbs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville track and field head coach Ron Mann announced the signing of North Hardin High School standout sprinter Marcellus Hobbs on Tuesday. Hobbs joins five other signees for the 2009-10 recruiting class and is the third athlete to commit from the State of Kentucky.
"We are excited to sign one of the premiere athletes in the state of Kentucky and we are thrilled to have Hobbs join our program," said U of L head coach Ron Mann.
Hobbs, a Vine Grove, Ky. native, was a second team All-State selection in 2008. He is a two-time MVP and two-time top scorer for North Hardin HS. Hobbs' personal best times include: 48.48 in the 400-meter dash; 22.19 in the 200-meter dash and 11.22 in the 100-meter dash.
The Cardinal men added Evan Hibbs (middle distance/distance) from Georgetown, Texas and Howard Shepard III (middle distance) from Lancaster, Texas in February.
On the women's side, Chelsea Brown (sprints) from Louisville, Ky., Amashi Kendall (throws) from Owensboro, Ky. and Michelle Theophille (jumps) from Whitby, Ontario joined the program.
The Cards will have a week off to prepare for the 2009 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on May 29-30 which will be hosted by Louisville for the first-time ever. The regional is one of four qualifying meets for the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships that will be held on June 10-13 in Fayetteville, Ark.
